Schofield was confirmed as Gary McSheffrey’s replacement on a one-year rolling contract on Thursday, having presided over an ill-fated 69 days in charge of Huddersfield Town earlier this season.

The 42-year-old, who was born and raised in Hexthorpe, won just one of his nine games in charge before he was dismissed.

Schofield’s coaching resume includes stints at Barnsley, Leeds United and Middlesbrough.

He also managed Huddersfield’s B team and under-19s before getting the top job.
