Tonight's Rovers line-up

Doncaster Rovers side to face Tranmere Rovers

And it's two changes for Rovers from the side that started the defeat at Fleetwood Town. OUT go Jon Taylor and Ben Sheaf, both dropping to the bench. Coming IN for their full debuts are Devante Cole and Jacob Ramsey.

James Coppinger misses out entirely with Max Watters stepping back up onto the bench.

Tranmere's James Vaughan controls a long ball forward on the edge of the box and sees a snap shot deflected wide

There's nothing in this game so far. Both teams are pushing forward quickly - surprisingly in wide areas given the state of the pitch in the wide areas.

Rovers are operating in a 4-1-4-1 tonight with Ben Whiteman sitting in front of the back four and a four man midfield of Kieran Sadlier, Jacob Ramsey, Madger Gomes and Niall Ennis ahead of him. Devante Cole is the lone front man.

They're up against a 3-4-3 system deployed by the hosts.

Kieron Morris swipes a volley from a knocked down free kick wide.

8.09 Not conducive for running with the ball

A couple of Rovers players have tried dribbling with little success on this playing surface at Prenton Park. In the end, it's the pitch that has tackled them rather than an opposition player. Sand in the wide areas and mud everywhere else are the big problems.

Niall Ennis lashes in a cross from the byline which Kieran Sadlier charges onto and pokes a shot which is deflected wide.

Rovers really should be ahead. A wonderful, flowing attacking move took them out of their own half and into the Tranmere box where Madger Gomes cut a pass back for the on-rushing Jacob Ramsey, who struck a first time effort which was blocked before following up and seeing his effort deflected over by an outstretched leg with the goal at his mercy.

We'll put that one down to a rush of blood to the head from debutant Ramsey, particularly with the follow-up where he had plenty of time plus space in which to aim his shot.

Kieran Sadlier powers in a cross from the right with Devante Cole rising in the middle of the goal, only to send his header straight at Tranmere keeper Scott Davies. Either side and it would have been a goal from such close range.

8.24 And one at the other end

Morgan Ferrier wrestles his way into space on the byline and plays a low ball across goal which bobbles up. It's poked away from goal but falls to Alex Woodyard, who lashes high and wide.

8.27 Another good chance for Tranmere

Morgan Ferrier holds off Joe Wright and pokes a ball through into the box where James Vaughan fires well over.

And it's goalless at Prenton Park
