The on-form centre half has committed his future to Rovers until the summer of 2022, following in the footsteps of skipper Ben Whiteman who recently agreed to an extended contract.

“I’m very pleased to get it done,” Anderson said.

"I've enjoyed it since I came here, initially on loan, not last season the season before.

“I’m very happy being here and I enjoy working with the gaffer and the coaching staff.

“It’s everything about the club that I've enjoyed so I've worked hard and given my all.

“Thankfully that's shown and the club have given me a new contract.”

The 26-year-old join Rovers initially on loan from Burnley in January 2018 before making the move permanent in the summer.

He has made more than 60 appearances for Rovers since his arrival, scoring five goals and has established himself as the first choice centre back at the club this term.

Anderson has arguably been Rovers’ best players this season with towering performances at centre half while also showing the developing side of his game in possession.

Boss Darren Moore was pleased to see the deal done after beginning contract talks several months ago.

He said: “We’re delighted that Tom has agreed to sign on and extend his contract with us.

“Tom has probably been, if you look at individuals, one of the most consistent performers this season.

“He’s been a tower of strength for us and long may that continue.

“He’s an affectionate person around the place. He’s got a wonderful character and he’s a wonderful man.

“On the pitch he’s shown his leadership qualities in terms of his performances.

“He gives us that solid foundation for us to build on so for him to agree to another couple of years here, we’re delighted at Doncaster Rovers to see him on board.

“He’s another acquisition to the squad that we’re pleased to see extend his time with us.”
