Despite the financial uncertainty facing a host of the division's clubs, a number of third tier sides look likely to be involved in some transfer activity, with free transfers, loan deals and swaps likely to be on the cards. Here's a look at when Doncaster Rovers and their divisional rivals can sign players this summer:

When is the summer transfer window officially open?

As of today (27th July), League One sides are able to sign new players.

In the Championship, teams currently involved in the play-offs will not be allowed to field any new additions.

When does the transfer window shut?

All summer business must be concluded by 17:00 on October 5th - a date which looks likely to also be observed in Spain and Italy.

Free agents can still be signed after this window closes, as long as they are not still attached to a club once it shuts.

Interestingly, a new rule is set to come into play, which will allow Premier League sides to sign players from their EFL clubs for a further two weeks, with this separate window operating closing at 17:00 on 16th October.

League One clubs will be able to do business with other EFL clubs during this period.

What about the January transfer window?

The winter window is expected to operate as normal, with clubs allowed to sign new players between 1st January and 31st January 2021.
