The Stags, who are managed by Nigel Clough, have lost all three of their away games this term but knocked Rovers out of last season’s FA Cup on their own patch.
That will also be fresh in their minds, according to McSheffrey.
He said: “It’s not one we can take lightly at all. I think it’ll be our toughest test yet.
“They’re very workmanlike. They’ve got a really experienced manager who has been there and knows what it takes.
“They’ll come with a great work ethic and run their socks off for the fans and the manager.”
Mansfield head into the clash in eighth place with nine points, while third-placed Doncaster currently have 14.
McSheffrey continued: “It’s not going to be easy so we’re really going to have to be at it.”
