Rovers have managed only three shutouts in League One this season, despite having one of the division’s better defensive records.

Anderson feels the consistently strong defensive performances of the side this season have justified more clean sheets than they have picked up.

“I think it’s one reason why it’s annoying me and bugging me,” he said.

“Against Swindon I thought we defended really well up until the last ten seconds and a bit of silly defending from myself with the penalty.

“And then in the Burton game it was another penalty.

“But the main thing is we get the results and get climbing up the league.

“We’re wanting to keep more clean sheets but we keep conceding the odd goal, which is annoying as a defender.

“You can’t get too down about it.”

Anderson made his 100th appearance for Rovers in last week’s defeat to Shrewsbury.

Rovers dominated the first half with a particularly impressive and confident performance but suffered a defeat which ended a four game winning run.

And Anderson believes it should be simple to shake off the disappointment.

“I think if you keep winning and winning, the chest goes out and you start playing really well,” he said.

“It’s nice to be involved with.

“And it’s why we shouldn’t take this result too hard.

“We missed out on the three points that would have put us top of the league but it’s a long season with such a long time left.

“We can’t get too down about it. We need to regroup and push on.”
