5. A switch in the system

It looks very much as though Rovers have gone with a 3-4-3 system tonight.

Knoyle, Blythe, John

Williams, Smith, Greaves, Horton

Close, Barlow, Gardner

Ben Close takes the kick-off for Rovers

It’s 11 changes for tonight’s hosts.

West Brom loanee Romaine Sawyers makes his debut for the Potters.

And it’s eight changes from the side that started the clash with Portsmouth at the weekend.

Out go Pontus Dahlberg, Ro-Shaun Williams, Tom Anderson, Tommy Rowe, John Bostock, Ethan Galbraith, Charlie Seaman and Tiago Cukur.

In come Louis Jones, Ben Blythe, Branden Horton, AJ Greaves, Matt Smith, Ed Williams, Aidan Barlow and Dan Gardner.

Ro-Shaun Williams, Anderson, Bostock and Cukur miss out entirely with Dahlberg, Rowe, Galbraith and Seaman on the bench.

U18s player Ethan Harrison, 16, is on the bench for Rovers this evening and is the only recognised striker in the matchday 18.

Omar Bogle is not in the squad.
