Gave away a few unnecessary free kicks but was otherwise solid and offered a fair amount going forward as Rovers looked for openings in the opening half. Withdrawn at the break. Photo: Andrew Roe/AHPIX LTD
6. Ben Whiteman 7
He received close attention prior to the sending off which forced him to drop deep to take possession. But with increased space he grew in influence and began to spray passes round from the middle of the park. Missed a penalty to make it three Photo: Andrew Roe/AHPIX LTD
7. Reece James 8
James was also picked out for close marking from the opposition in the early stages as he started alongside Whiteman. His efforts to get on the ball took him higher up the pitch and he did well linking play. He moved to left back in the second half and was a big threat on the left. His cross for the second goal was dangerous. Photo: Howard Roe/AHPIX LTD
8. Brad Halliday 6
Started the game on the right of the attacking midfield three. It was difficult for him to get on the ball due to Northampton’s organisation but he covered well and got on the ball more in a roving role after the sending off. Photo: Bruce Rollinson
