Rossington Main survive relegation scare to preserve Premier Division status
Rossington Main successfully pulled themselves clear of relegation danger to preserve their Premier Division status in the Northern Counties East League.
Ben Hunter, who memorably guided Main to promotion from Division One in 2023, had returned to Oxford Street to act as joint manager alongside Greg Young last month in an attempt to save their season.

Rossington, in the relegation zone at the time of Hunter’s return, subsequently won four and drew two of their final nine league games to move clear of danger and eventually finish 14th in the table.
They concluded their campaign on Saturday with a 2-1 win at Knaresborough Town courtesy of goals from Mackenzie Warne and Masai Arbouin.
Rossington face Route One Rovers in the semi-finals of the NCEL League Cup later this month.
They also reached the semi-finals of this season's Sheffield & Hallamshire Senior Cup but went down 5-1 at the hands of Worksop Town.
Armthorpe Welfare won 4-1 against Athersley Recreation but their outside hopes of gatecrashing the Division One play-offs are now over. Michael Dunn bagged a hat trick for eighth-placed Welfare and Harry Sheperd was also on target.
Club Thorne Colliery, in ninth, drew 0-0 with South Leeds, while Doncaster City lost 5-1 at Appleby Frodingham but are now mathematically safe.
