Rossington Main Reserves on cloud nine as Rovers League returns

Rossington Main Reserves resumed their Premier Division title push with a 9-0 win over Bawtry Town as the Doncaster Rovers Saturday League bounced back into action over the weekend.

Ryan Evans, Jack Gilks and Leighton Beck each scored twice with further goals from Joe Durrants, Zack King and Ben Clark.

Askern Miners moved up a place into third spot after scoring a late winner against Yorkshire Main.

Sam Corner’s late goal earned Askern a 2-1 victory.

Dearne & District secured a tight 1-0 victory over Denaby United thanks to an early goal from Tommy Needham.

Dearne will feel they might have been further ahead as they had the better of the chances in the first half.

United improved after the break and created the better opportunities. They hit the frame of the goal twice and had a goal disallowed for a push.

Armthorpe Welfare Development came away from Epworth Town Colts Blues with a 3-1 win with Jamie Cooke, Harrison Mercer and Connor Clayton on target.

Harry Watkins scored twice for Bessacarr Development in a 2-1 win over bottom side GCT Doncaster B.

Long time Division One leaders Maltby Juniors showed that the Covid break has not blunted their edge as they won 3-2 at St Joseph’s Worksop to maintain their 100 per cent record.

Ryan Smyth (2) and Tom Salt were on target for Maltby who have won 14 from 14 and lead the division by 13 points. Ryan Hurcombe grabbed a brace for St Josephs.

Second-placed Sprotbrough Country Club won 3-0 at Tickhill Juniors thanks to goals from Jack Roberts, Frankie Evans and Tucker Watson.

AFC Bentley Development enjoyed a comfortable 7-1 home win over Doncaster Eagles. Danny Halliday claimed a hat trick, Lathan James-Miller scored twice and Myron Gibbons and Callum Agar also found the net.

Liam Hyde bagged a hat trick in Dearne & District Development’s 4-2 win at Askern.

Adwick Park Foresters went down 2-1 at Epworth Town Colts Development, GCT Doncaster A won 3-0 at South Park Rangers and Doncaster Town beat Armthorpe Rovers 3-1.
