Good counter-attack

No shortage of pace in this Rovers team as Tyler Roberts leads a counter-attack from a corner and finds the run of Luke Molyneux. Owen Bailey meets the subsequent delivery but can’t get a clean connection with the ball.

Two good headers from the skipper as Vale go forward - the first to clear a free-kick then the second to rid the danger from a corner.

Ian Lawlor, Joseph Olowu, Richard Wood, Luke Molyneux, Tommy Rowe, Harrison Biggins, Owen Bailey, Joe Ironside, Tyler Roberts, Jack Senior, Ben Close

Subs: Ben Bottomley, James Maxwell, George Broadbent, George Miller, Adam Long, Tom Nixon, Deji Sotona, Liam Ravenhill, Bobby Faulkner

No Louis Jones, Kyle Hurst, Jon Taylor, Jamie Sterry, Zain Westbrooke, Reo Griffiths or Caolan Lavery. Will get a fitness update from the boss at full-time.

Taylor is absolutely fine, just having a rest after a busy week - the most football he’s played in a while.

Jamie Sterry, Zain Westbrooke, Caolan Lavery, Reo Griffiths and Ollie Younger all trained at Cantley Park this morning. That likely means they won’t be involved this afternoon.

Just one more friendly to go for Doncaster, who have collected three wins and a draw from five pre-season games to date (not including the win over Middlesbrough Under-21s). I think it’s fair to say most of us can’t wait for next Saturday now, but this afternoon is a chance for some final fine-tuning before Harrogate next weekend.

Rovers will be hoping to build on Tuesday’s impressive performance and result against Sheffield Wednesday and League One Port Vale will certainly provide them with a test. Expecting McCann to field another strong starting XI with most players playing 90 minutes. He said midweek he expects today to flow like an ordinary match, rather than being disrupted by a raft of substitutions.

It should be a good one.
