Doncaster Rovers 2 Newcastle United 3

Allan Saint-Maximin races across the box and drills a low shot which Louis Reed deflects wide for a corner.

Rovers look to be in danger as Callum Wilson touches down a long ball over the top with Louis Jones close to the edge of his area, but the Rovers keeper got a thigh in the way as Wilson attempted to knock it past him.

Shayon Harrison cuts inside and shoots from 20 yards, with Dan Langley stretching to keep it out.

TOMMY ROWE!

Louis Reed picked up the ball 25 yards out and fired on goal. The ball bounced awkwardly and Newcastle keeper Dan Langley could only push it away into the path of Rowe who squeezed his shot through the gap to score.

Sean Longstaff doubles the lead for the visitors.

All the work came from the brilliant Allan Saint-Maximin, who beat men to reach the byline and cut a pass back into the box, which Longstaff stretched to reach and poke into the far corner.

Jordy Hiwula threaded a brilliant pass through the middle for Shayon Harrison to run onto in the box but the trialist was bundled over has he attempted to get to it. Referee James Bell was having none of it.

Ryan Fraser rifles in from 20 yards for the visitors.

Fraser cut in from the left and smashed a shot from the corner of the box which nestled in the far corner. Question marks over whether Louis Jones should have done better with it.

Callum Wilson brings down a ball over the top and works space for a shot, but not before Tom Anderson gets back to block with his chest.

Louis Reed puts an excellent ball through the gap for Kyle Knoyle to race onto after patient build-up play from Rovers. Knoyle’s cross was overhit but it was very good from the trialist Reed.
