Twenty-one days after their last match, Doncaster Rovers finally return to action this afternoon when they take on Mansfield Town.

Doncaster have seen back-to-back fixtures postponed due to the weather, while today’s opponents also saw their game last weekend called off.

Danny Schofield’s side were beaten 1-0 against league leaders Leyton Orient last time out but did win their two matches before that loss.

Mansfield, who are two points above Rovers in League Two, have just one win in their last seven home games and six overall.

Key Events

  • Doncaster return to League Two action for the first time in 21 days following back-to-back postponements
  • Mansfield have just one win in their last seven home games and six overall
  • Two points separate the sides ahead of kick-off

The ball is poked wide following a goalmouth scramble from a corner. A bit of a let off for Doncaster.

GOAL - 3-1 Mansfield

Lucas Akins sends the ball over Jonathan Mitchell and into the back of the net following a long ball forward, undoing a really encouraging 15 minutes from Doncaster.

We’re back online and in the meantime Kyle Hurst has scored! Rovers looking much better this half and James Brown has just fired one over from distance. Plenty of life in this one yet.

Luke Molyneux and Charlie Seaman make way for James Brown and Caolan Lavery.

That’s a poor first half from Doncaster, it must be said. Hosts given a huge shot in the arm with that Anderson own goal after just 25 seconds before they doubled their lead via Alfie Kilgour’s volley from the edge of the box.

No effort on target from Doncaster in the first period.

Anderson booked on the stroke of half time following a robust tacke on Stephen Quinn.

Ollie Clarke booked

In almost record time surely after he catches Maxwell late.

Best moment of the half sees Ben Nelson find George Miller, who opts to pass to Charlie Seaman in space rather than shoot from distance. Seaman cuts the ball back onto his weaker foot but his effort is blocked and the chance is gone. Should have worked the keeper there.

Seven minutes added on as Hiram Boateng is replaced by Ollie Clarke due to injury.

Doncaster’s best work in this half has come from the left-had side through those two. Maxwell the standout player, albeit from a bad bunch.

Luke Molyneux and Charlie Seaman have been far less effective on the opposite flank.

A word on Lucas Akins

He’s getting the better of Tom Anderson and Ro-Shaun Williams here physically, and they’re no mugs.

Mansfield just look better in every department at present. Rovers yet to have an effort on target.

GOAL - 2-0 Mansfield

Alfie Kilgour volleys home from the edge of the box to make it 2-0. Poor defending from Rovers, who were let off the hook by a double save from Jonathan Mitchell moments earlier.
