Taylor has been out of action since the draw with AFC Wimbledon at the start of last month.

Though he was not expected to be sidelined for long, it is understood the winger suffered a minor setback in training which has delayed his return.

And boss Darren Moore has exercised caution with Taylor’s return due to the hectic schedule facing Rovers in the run up to Christmas.

But he hinted he could finally be ready to let the 28-year-old off the leash against League One leaders Hull.

“Tayls is there or thereabouts,” Moore said.

“If he misses out, he’s getting close. If you see him on the bench, then we’re happy with him.”

Moore confirmed that full back Danny Amos will continue to be assessed after he was forced off due to injury in Sunday’s win over Carlisle United in the FA Cup.

He said: “Danny is nursing the knock and we’ll give him another 24 hours.

“It was more of a contact injury that a strain. We’ll see how it is but it’s nothing substantial.

“Everyone has come through training okay today and the only one we’re looking at is Jon Taylor.”
