The Rovers hierarchy have opted not to address questions on the club’s business so far this month, preferring instead to focus on the continued quest for new additions.

But Baldwin used his programme notes at the weekend to briefly address the transfer market.

He wrote: “Although I know supporters are keen to hear updates from the club about transfers, rest assured that we have got a team of people identifying targets, speaking to clubs and agents and trying to make sure we get the right additions.

“Let’s be clear that the players we think are good enough to improve us are in high demand and at this time of the year every club, player and agent is playing a cat and mouse game.

“As a club we have never commented on speculation and are not about to.”
