Owen Bailey makes future pledge amid clubs 'weighing' up moves for Doncaster Rovers captain
Doncaster Rovers captain Owen Bailey appears to be a wanted man this summer.
It shouldn't come as too much of a surprise to anyone, mind, given Bailey's outstanding goalscoring exploits. The Rovers skipper netted an incredible 16 times in all competitions and for the third season in a row he was an ever-present in the league, playing every single minute of all 46 outings.
On Wednesday night it was reported by respected transfer journalist Pete O'Rourke that "a number of Championship and top end League One clubs are weighing moves" for the 27-year-old.
That came just a day after Bailey's manager Grant McCann confirmed that no bids had currently been lodged for either of his star assets: Bailey or Luke Molyneux.

"Until there's any sort of offer, there's not much of a conversation," McCann said. "We want to try and keep both. And as well as being good for us, I think we've been good to them as well. Everything works both ways."
Bailey's contract expires in the summer of 2027 although the fact that the club inserted an option into that deal effectively means he has two years left to run. That could allow Rovers plenty more bargaining power if or when prospective buyers come knocking.
As for the man himself, he appears to be relaxed about the situation and says he's "looking forward to the future".
"It's been a great three years. It's been amazing for me and my family," Bailey told BBC Radio Sheffield during an appearance at a charity padel tournament in Sheffield on Tuesday night. "I've bought a house in Doncaster now and I'm really looking forward to the future and next season and hopefully just hitting the ground running really."
