Here, we bring a selection of social media reaction from Rovers supporters.

@NathanDRFC: We played like a team who have not played for a week or so - just off the pace but stayed in the game though luck and determination, this could be a vital equaliser / point at the end of the season.

@mattarnold13: Poor performance, Sunderland looked a well drilled team they made us look disorganised and pedestrian at times, has to be put down as a great result to come away with a point. Still need a couple more creative players in jan for me.

@Dantheman_RTID: Poor performance. No urgency or pressure in first half, sloppy in possession and passing and there's literally no goal threat in our team fej can't hack lone striker at all and we missed too many injured players.

@pgjackson1: Dick Turpin wore a mask, deserved nothing today but jubilant scenes in the back bedroom when the equaliser went in. Looked offside as well, my Daughter was having a hangover curing nap at the time that went a bit pear shaped !

@_daveharvey: It’s a point against a strong and experienced side which may well be crucial at the end of the season. The challenge for our young team is to impose themselves more on teams like that - be braver and more composed on the ball.

@markkisby: It was a dire performance from Rovers, except the back 4. Tactically Moore was poor and didn't change the lacklustre, negative, sloppy play from 1st half to the 2nd, luckily Sunderland were as unadventurous as us. We got a point we didn't deserve. But praise for Halliday our MoTM

@nwarddrfc: Performance was absolutely shocking it was like they had never met we absolutely robbed Sunderland but a point is point we have had it happen to us loads of times

@superryandunphy: Result = Clearly amazing considering the performance, I am delighted! We’ve Sunderlanded Sunderland. Performance = Slow, boring, turgid and hard to find any positives.

@challo_drfc: Poor performance? Or sunderlands game plan worked a treat whichever way you look at it, it was a poor performance. Missing Taylor, need James back at LB, Smith back in CM or even madger

@JohnLeslieCoyl1: We were poor for much of the game with little energy or creativity. Richards and Copps should have been on at half time. That said, we've done something we've never done before- taken points off Sunderland at home.

@W1LDE: A miracle?

@awayonsaturday1: Would the majority of people have taken a draw beforehand? Probably. The rest can be worked on. It’s no coincidence, btw, that Sunderland put in a very similar impressive showing at the KM last season. They’re a good side but just didn’t get the result this time.

@PJohnsonBet: Great result considering how poor we were. Liked the new keeper but shouldn’t have had to distribute so much. Kept playing backwards with no imagination. Most players below par especially Lokilo and FO.
