Danny Amos will be available for selection despite being called up for Northern Ireland U21 duty as he does not depart until Wednesday.

But Rovers will be without Jon Taylor and Madger Gomes, who will not be risked for the tie.

Richards has been out of action since the win over Ipswich Town on October 20 but staff at Rovers are now confident he is ready to return.

“Taylor could be involved,” temporary manager Andy Butler said.

“He’s trained for a few days now so he could be involved for us.

“We’ll just see what side we put out.”

Taylor missed Saturday’s FA Cup win over FC United of Manchester due to a strain and will not be risked on Tuesday.

Neither will Gomes, who has been sidelined since October 24. While close to a comeback, he will be given extra time to get up to full speed, with Rovers having the luxury of a ten day gap to the next game after the trip to Oxford United on Saturday was postponed due to international call-ups.

“Tayls won’t be available for tomorrow,” Butler said.

“He could have played but it’s not worth risking him for the sake of a Papa John’s Trophy game.

“We’ve got ten days after this one so he’ll be rested and he’ll have a few more days to recover.

“Madger is nearly there but again, he won’t be playing.”

Rovers will be without Josef Bursik and Matt Smith who are away on international duty.
