The latest on Doncaster Rovers skipper Tom Anderson after head injury at Fleetwood

Anderson was forced off just 14 minutes into Tuesday night’s defeat at Fleetwood Town after suffering a blow to the head in a collision with goalkeeper Ellery Balcombe.

The Rovers skipper looked incredibly groggy as he left the pitch and had not improved much by half time.

The Football Association’s concussion protocol is set to rule Anderson out of the trip to the Stadium of Light at the weekend and will also likely see him miss the clash with Accrington Stanley at the Keepmoat next Tuesday.

“He’s a concern for us,” Moore said after the game.

“He’s not been in a good way and it doesn’t look good to be honest.

“We’ll give it 24, 48 hours and wait to see what the medical team says with that one.

“It’s not like the big man to stay down. It was a heavy incident.

“They put the ball in and it looks like Ellery has tried to clear his lines but whilst clearing his lines he’s cleared Tom out as well.

“It’s unfortunate for that.

“We just wish Tom well and a speedy recovery.”

It is understood that Anderson was not required to attend hospital following consultation with Fleetwood’s club doctor.

The FA’s guidelines for returning to play following a concussion sees players follow a procedure lasting a minimum of six days.

Players must show no symptoms before returning to training in stages of light exercise, football-specific, non-contact and full contact sessions, with approval required before moving onto the next stage.
