Kieran Sadlier signs for Doncaster Rovers' neighbours

Sadlier has signed a two-year deal with the newly-promoted Millers after previously rejecting the offer of a new deal at the Keepmoat.

The 25-year-old was glowing in his praise of Rovers and the contribution the club has made towards his career.

But he feels he is ready for the move up.

"When I made the move over to Doncaster, they gave me the chance to prove myself in League One - a respected league in England and against some extremely talented players every single weekend," Sadlier told BBC Sheffield.

"I enjoyed my time there, I loved every single minute I had there.

"I learned so much from both sets of managers that I worked with.

"I just felt like my next step, I wanted to be in the Championship and I was ready to make the step up and show what I can do now.

"That is why I've made the move now."

Sadlier had a desire to search for opportunities at Championship level after his impressive first full season at the Keepmoat, which yielded 12 goals in 40 appearances.

Rovers boss Darren Moore insisted the contract offered to Sadlier would remain on the table, should he fail to find alternative employment.

But he has now accepted the offer of a two-year deal with the newly-promoted Millers.

He departed Rovers after an 18-month spell which brought 15 goals from 59 appearances.
