The Crystal Palace loanee was on the scoresheet, as was fellow senior Matty Blair who was another creative spark in the 6-1 triumph.

Junior Smith scored twice with Jack Watson and Rieves Boocock also on target.

Scunthorpe fielded a young side with the notable exception of Adam Hammill who did pull a goal back for Iron with a sensationally ambitious strike from half way from a restart.

But much of the excitement came from the tricky Lokilo who dazzled with a combination of football, pace and directness which made him a constant threat, just two days after making his senior debut for Rovers.

He arguably could have scored more than his single strike - a fortuitous effort that involved a cross bouncing all the way through - during his full 90 minutes.

Blair and Alex Baptiste also played the full game.

The first half was dominant from a Rovers perspective as they used the ball superbly to maintain pressure on the visitors almost constantly.

Blair opened the scoring after 16 minutes with a powerful downward header from a Branden Horton cross.

And the winger was involved in the second just after the half hour mark when Watson met his cross at the near post with a powerful side-foot volley.

Three minutes later, Blair rattled the bar with a fierce drive but Smith was on hand to capitalise and rifled the rebound pasy Scunthorpe keeper Adam Kelsey.

Iron responded from the kick-off with Hammill smashing the ball up field and catching Rovers’ on-trial keeper off his line to find the top corner.

Lokilo almost added to the score just before the break, testing Kelsey’s reflexes with a curling free kick that threatened the near post.

The control of Rovers’ performance was not quite at the same levels in the second half but Smith restored the three goal advantage after turning and rifling home from the edge of the area.

Lokilo got off the mark five minutes later as he curled in a cross which bounced straight through and nestled in the far corner.

And substitute Boocock rounded off the scoring with a superb finish from a tight angle.

Rovers: Trialist; Walker (McLean), Baptiste, Blythe, Horton; Greaves, McGowan (Hasani); Blair, Lokilo, Watson (Ravenhill); Smith (Boocock). Not used: Johnson.
