Most notably, of course, was the departure of manager Darren Moore, who left his post with the club to take on a new role with Sheffield Wednesday.
Rovers are still very much in with a fighting chance of mounting a promotion charge, however.
But where do the experts think Doncaster will finish now that Moore has left, and who are they tipping for promotion to the Championship?
One set of data analysts have released their latest predictions on how the League One table will finish - and it makes for interesting reading after a busy period in the division, which has seen a number of teams drop points.
Scroll down and click through the pages as we see where their unique formula is predicting Rovers to finish come the end of the 2020/21 campaign:

5. 20th - Northampton Town
The Cobblers recently parted company with Keith Curle (above) in a bid to get themselves out of relegation dangers, and experts think they'll just be able to keep their heads above water this term after Tuesday's win over Oxford United. Predicted points total: 44 Photo: Pete Norton

6. 19th - Swindon Town
The Robins currently sit just above the bottom four, but aren't being tipped to drop into the danger zone before the season is out - despite some indifferent form of late. Predicted points total: 48 Photo: Alex Davidson

7. 18th - Burton Albion
The Brewers sat bottom of League One for much of the season but had a busy January as they looked to claw themselves away from danger - and the experts feel the appointment of Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink will help in that regard. They've been in stunning form of late and may now avoid the drop. Predicted points total: 54 Photo: Nathan Stirk

8. 17th - Plymouth Argyle
Ryan Lowe's side have looked like an impressive outfit at times this season - but are being tipped to finish in the bottom half come May. Predicted points total: 57 Photo: Stu Forster
