Donervon Daniels insists there is no blame culture over mistakes within the Doncaster Rovers squad – but says he will never stop holding himself to account.

The on loan Luton Town defender says there is a strong effort to eradicate the individual mistakes that have cost Rovers in recent weeks.

And after conceding a penalty against AFC Wimbledon on Saturday – something he put down to a lapse in concentration – he says he went through a good deal of introspection.

“We just have to eradicate mistakes, we know that,” he said.

“The one thing we have spoken about is that no one wants to make a mistake.

“No one will come for you in a negative way if you’re making a mistake when you’re trying to do the right thing, like a forward pass that gets intercepted. That is acceptable.

“Mistakes through lack of concentration on my behalf, that is when you have to look at yourself and say ‘come on, you’re better than that.’

“It’s one I will take on the chin and one I will wholeheartedly correct and put my name to saying I will be much better, I will be the person that I’m expected to be on that pitch.”

Daniels says, other than errors, the performance at AFC Wimbledon showed the evolution of Rovers into a multi-faceted side that can handle any opposition.

And he feels that will stand Rovers in good stead as they look to shake off disappointing recent results.

Daniels said: “When I first came in, we played out and the opposition said, ‘go on Doncaster, play.’

“We’ve showcased our ability to pass out from the back, through the midfield third and then capitalise at the end.

“Then the opposition have jumped on us and we’ve now had to bypass the press and implement that style of play in our general mainframe of playing.

“I felt like on Saturday we showcased that we can do both sides of the game. We can play out from the back, we can hit the front man, we can hit the full backs, we can play into midfield.”
