But how have the squad performed on an individual basis so far? Here, we have rated each player based on the first 23 league matches of the campaign. Only those with five or more appearances this term are included.
17. Jon Taylor 7
Another player whose brushes with injury have hampered his progress this season, Taylor has nevertheless impressed when he has had the opportunity. He is always dangerous when carrying the ball forward at pace, and he has consistently looked a threat when cutting inside. But he has also stood out due to his incredible workrate, especially when dropping deep to cover and take part in the defensive effort. Photo: Howard Roe/AHPIX LTD
18. Ed Williams 5.5
The midfielder’s Rovers career has yet to take off, with only two starts so far. He has had to make do with appearances off the bench but has yet to impress sufficiently to warrant more game time. Photo: Howard Roe/AHPIX LTD
19. Joe Wright 8
It was a tremendous start to the season for Wright as he continued the superb partnership with Tom Anderson that was started last term. The pair were quickly becoming arguably the best duo in the division. He was unfortunate to suffer an injury which broke up the partnership, with Andy Butler coming into the side and thriving. But we have had more opportunity to see him ply his trade at right back, where he has performed very well, including developing his attacking ability. Photo: Bruce Rollinson
