Doncaster Rovers’ tough run of fixtures continues on the road at Northampton Town this afternoon.

Gary McSheffrey’s side have already played several teams tipped for promotion from League Two in their opening five games and take on another strong outfit today.

Like Rovers, Northampton have made an unbeaten start to the season with three wins and two draws.

They have scored more goals than anyone else in the division, but only slow starters Hartlepool United and Stockport County have a worse defensive record.

Northampton’s first effort on target

And it actually comes via Kyle Knoyle, who gets in front of Danny Hylton to head the ball back to Jonathan Mitchell from close range.

Could be a nervy finish.

Doncaster are up to third in the live table. Twelve minutes plus added time to play.

Adam Long warming up

As a Northampton free-kick evades everyone in the box, including their big centre-half Jon Guthrie.

Might Doncaster try and see this out with a bit more of an aerial presence? Would be wise with Northampton loading up on attackers.

That’s three in three for him now.

Miller steps up - and scores!

GOAL - sends the keepr the wrong way. What a goal that could be.

Tomlin is helped back to his feet as Northampton bring Shaun McWilliams off in place of Danny Hylton. Louis Appere is also off for Jack Sowerby.

It was McWilliams who fouled Tomlin for the penalty and he was on a yellow card.

Tomlin goes down in the box after starting a move himself with another bit of brilliant play. He went past his man with ease and appeared to buy a foul, but nonetheless the referee decides there was enough in it to blow for a penalty.

Miller has the ball in his hand,

The bad news is that Tomlin is on the floor hurt.

The first groans have gone up

The home fans aren’t happy with Ro-Shaun Williams, or the ref, after he blows in favour of Rovers for a foul on the defender.

Fair to say Northampton have been a little off-colour so far.

Almost a dream debut for Faulkner

He heads in Adam Clayton’s corner a second after the referee had blown for a foul on a Northampton player.

Credit where it’s due

If it wasn’t for Northampton defender Tyler Maloire George Miller might have had at least one goal already.

The centre-half has dealt with everything thrown at him so far this afternoon.

Great chance for Tomlin

Wow. That was a sitter and Lee Tomlin has missed it.

Northampton’s clearance is blocked by Hurst and falls to Biggins, who plays a simple pass forward to the winger, who then cuts it back to an unmarked Tomlin about 12 yards out.

He gets a shot off but somehow it ends up in the keeper’s arms. Either side of him and that was in.
