McSheffrey made 41 appearances in the Premier League for Coventry City and Birmingham City.

The 38-year-old has had brief spells with Eastleigh, Grimsby Town and Frickley Athletic since leaving Doncaster Rovers in 2017.

He was lead coach of Rovers’ under-23s before coronavirus forced the club to ditch their development team.

Rossington are fifth in Division One of the Northern Counties East League. Ben Hunter’s side have taken 13 points from the last possible 15.
