Former Doncaster Rovers goalkeeper retires

Former Doncaster Rovers goalkeeper Stephen Bywater has retired from professional football.

The 39-year-old was released by Burton Albion - along with Kwame Thomas, who signed for Rovers on a short term deal this season - earlier this week and has since confirmed his retirement.

He made 21 appearances for Rovers during the second half of the 2014/15 season after joining from Millwall.

Bywater made more than 400 career appearances. He won promotion to the Premier League with Derby County and West Ham United.
