Manchester United are closing in on a world record £100 million deal for France’s Euro 2016 star Paul Pogba. United are ready to table the bid now the Juventus midfielder’s participation in the Euros has ended and they believe they can succeed in bringing the 23-year-old back to Old Trafford. New Everton boss Ronald Koeman has joined the race for Portugal midfielder William Carvalho. The Sporting Lisbon star, 24, is also wanted by Koeman’s ex-club Southampton and has been tracked by Leicester. (The Sun).
United manager Jose Mourinho will look to sell Guillermo Varela and Tyler Blackett as he continues his Old Trafford revolution. Chelsea have been rebuffed in an opening move for Alvaro Morata with Real Madrid demanding £64 million. The Spain international officially returned to Madrid from Juventus this month after they activated a buy-back clause at £26m but the Champions League winners want to recoup more than double their outlay for the 23-year-old. Switzerland youth international Nishan Burkart has confirmed his move to Manchester United from FC Zurich. The 16-year-old is the latest overseas youngster to move to Manchester as head of academy Nicky Butt continues to reinforce the youth team. Burkart scored nine goals in seven games at the Swiss Cup last summer and is pleased to be heading to his mother’s home country.
Burnley have taken Colombian teenager Juan Pablo Gonzalez Velasco on trial, according to Sky sources. The Colombia U17 international was previously with Brentford’s development squad but has been linked with a number of English clubs this summer. (Sky Sports).
Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas insists Arsenal have not made a bid for Alexandre Lacazette and says the striker will not be leaving the club.
