All five football clubs in South Yorkshire paid tribute to the NHS last night with a moving light display organised by a local entertainment firm.

The grounds of both Sheffield clubs, along with Rotherham, Doncaster and Barnsley were all bathed in blue light and adorned with the message ‘NHS Thank You’ at the same time as millions across the country were applauding their healthcare heroes.

The company who organised the display, Rotherham based PA entertainments, last week projected the same message on the side of Wentworth Woodhouse near Rotherham.

Afterwards, they were asked by one of the South Yorkshire clubs to do something similar and decided to offer the service to all five regional teams.

Company bosses, Adam and Phil, said they were honoured to be able to bring football together in this way.

They said: “No matter what colour football team you support, it’s about standing together and showing our support for our amazing NHS.”
