Doncaster Rovers host promotion hopefuls Stockport County in the second meeting between the two sides this season.
The pair previously faced off in August during this season’s curtain raiser at Edgley Park. It was a tight fought affair in the League Cup with Alfie May firing in a goal on his debut before the Hatters instantly hit back through a goal from Kyle Wootton. Ultimately, Rovers prevailed from the cup contest by winning a penalty shoot-out, with Tommy Simkin producing a series of impressive saves and Jamie Sterry keeping his cool to convert an audacious panenka penalty.
Grant McCann’s side will hope to use that victory as a good omen heading into this week’s clash. However, they’ll be more than aware of the threat posed by Jimmy McNulty’s side who are currently second in the League One table and pushing for promotion after reaching the play-off final last season.
Doncaster Rovers haven’t made a great start to the campaign but have shown signs of improvement after winning two of their last three League One matches. Here’s our predicted lineup for the game on Tuesday evening which includes three changes from the team that fell to defeat against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium.

9. Bayley McCann
Bayley McCann looked impressive in his brief cameo against Leicester City and offers more going forward than Tom Nixon, who has just come back from injury. This is a change that could freshen things up in the final third.
10. Alfie May
He cruelly had his goal taken away from him against Leicester City after the experts judged it to be a Warren O'Hara own goal. He'll be keen to get on the scoresheet having managed two in nine games so far in League One. | Howard Roe AHPIX LTD 07973739229 [email protected]
11. Brandon Hanlan
The forward came off the bench and made a second half assist to set up a nervy finish for Leicester City. Despite failing to score this season, he's so far been able to bring Alfie May more into the game which is a useful trait at this moment. | Howard Roe AHPIX LTD 07973739229 [email protected]
