Doncaster Rovers will enter the FA Cup in the first round alongside their 23 League One counterparts, all 24 teams in League Two and 32 sides from either the National League or the lower divisions of English football.

The first round of the competition will take place over the weekend of 7–8 November and will be sandwiched between Rovers’ final EFL Trophy group stage game away at Rochdale and the home clash with Leyton Orient which will see Richie Wellens go head to head with his former club.

Grant McCann’s side recorded away victories over Crewe Alexander and Chesterfield to reach the third round of last year’s competition before falling short in an entertaining 3-2 defeat against Championship side Southampton. In the year prior to that, they made it to the fourth round recording wins over Barrow, Kettering and Hull City before being beaten by eventual winners Crystal Palace in DN4.

With the draw scheduled to take place on Monday, following the conclusion of this weekend’s fourth qualifying round ties, the ball numbers have been confirmed with Rovers being assigned number 16.
