‘Significant step’ - Doncaster Rovers complete purchase of Cantley Park training ground
“Owning the land at Cantley Park outright gives us the security to continue investing in the facilities where our players train every day.”
Club Doncaster has completed the purchase of the Cantley Park training ground.
Cantley Park is the training base for Doncaster Rovers football club and the club’s academy training facility while it’s also used by Doncaster Rugby League.

According to council documents, the League One side purchased the freehold of the 15-acre site for an undisclosed fee, although it was stated the agreed sale price was less than £1m.
Previously, the club had a 99-year lease with the local authority for the facility, known as the Club Doncaster Elite Performance Centre, which it paid rent for.
The purchase follows major investment already made in the facility which is set to continue following notable upgrades such as a state-of-the-art gym as well as a new medical building opening.
The training ground site will be wholly owned by Doncaster Rovers Football Club and held on its balance sheet, strengthening the club’s financial position.
Gavin Baldwin, Chief Executive of Club Doncaster, said: “Owning the land at Cantley Park outright gives us the security to continue investing in the facilities where our players train every day.
“This is a significant step for Doncaster Rovers, the Academy and the Doncaster Rugby League and places the club on a stronger financial footing. We would like to thank the City of Doncaster Council for their support in completing the purchase.”
