A strong crowd of loyal Doncaster Rovers supporters made the long trip down to Bedfordshire to see their team suffer a 3-1 defeat to promotion hopefuls Luton Town.
Rovers, buoyed by their win against Sheffield Wednesday, named an unchanged team and made a fairly good account of themselves in the first half an hour, with Neill Byrne and Will Keane both having opportunities to open the scoring. However, as was the case against Leicester, the hosts started to go up a gear before the end of the half and got themselves in front on the stroke of half-time when Callum Marshall converted his penalty after Kasey Palmer was deemed to have been fouled by Jamie Sterry in the penalty area - a decision which didn’t leave Grant McCann too happy at full-time.
From that goal onwards it was very much one way traffic, with Luton doubling and later tripling their lead in the second-half through Jamie Donley. There was one moment of joy for the travelling supporters late on, however, as substitute Bayley McCann headed in his first ever Football League goal at Kenilworth Road.
