A group of American investors are close to completing a £17.5m deal for Ipswich Town, according to The Athletic. Long-time owner Marcus Evans will reportedly write of debts of close to £100m.
And the new owners are set to sack current Town boss Paul Lambert and replace him with former Wigan Athletic manager Paul Cook once the deal is completed.

Hide AdNothing will change at the club before Rovers visit on Saturday, looking to return to winning ways after four games without a victory.
Ipswich triumphed at Hull City in midweek after winning just one of their previous seven matches.
Rovers won the reverse fixture 4-1 in October and Ipswich boss Lambert is expecting a another tough test for his side as the two teams meet again at Portman Road.
“It’s the same that I saw when we last played them up there,” Lambert said when asked what he was expecting from Rovers this time around.

Hide Ad“They’re a good footballing side,” he said. They’ve had their ups and downs like everybody else.
“It’s a hard game for us.
“I think it’s hard because of the situation that everybody is in - no crowd, it’s a hard thing for every team.
“Everyone has had their ups and downs and no one is really running away with it.
“It’s another hard game. It’s a game where we have to motivate everything that is happening and we’ll see if we can win.”
