Rovers have been placed into Northern Group E alongside neighbours Rotherham United and Scunthorpe United in the competition.

And they have been drawn against Manchester City U21s in the group also.

Two of Rovers’ three group matches will be played at the Keepmoat. The first group stage match will take place the week commencing August 30.

Rovers were eliminated from the competition at the group stage last season.
