Jacob Wakeling’s second-half goal downed a Doncaster side that looked low on confidence and creativity as they produced just two efforts on target all game.
The final whistle was met with boos from some sections of the home support as fans made their frustrations heard.
Another defeat also sees Rovers drop out of the play-off places and down to twelfth.
Here’s our player ratings.
5. Ro-Shaun Williams - 6
Involved in a mix-up with Jonathan Mitchell early on that could have led to a soft goal. Made some important blocks and interceptions throughout the match, however. Photo: Andrew Roe/AHPIX LTD
6. James Maxwell - 6
Kept it simple and dealt with Wales international Jonny Williams well for large periods. Offered a good outlet on the left-hand side, too. Swindon's goal came from his side, however, which was an issue Gary McSheffrey pointed out earlier this week. Photo: Howard Roe/ahpix.com
7. Tommy Rowe - 5
Moved into the centre of midfield but didn't really get going before being replaced just before the hour mark due to injury. Booked for a late sliding challenge that could have been a red had he connected further. Photo: Andrew Roe/AHPIX LTD
8. Adam Clayton - 5
So often Clayton is the man to get Doncaster going and today was no different. Lots of endeavour but didn't have the quality to match when it was needed. Photo: Andrew Roe/AHPIX LTD
