The winger joined Rovers on loan from Barnsley for the rest of the season on Wednesday and says he feels little pressure from the prospect of continuing the push for promotion.

“A lot of people might say it’s pressure coming into a team that is doing well but I just take it as a chance to help them get better,” the 21-year-old said.

“I like the chance to be able to improve the team somehow.

“When a team is on the right track, it’s what you want. It’s good and I’ve come in at the right time, I think.”

The Portugal-born winger says he could not turn down the chance to play in a side where he could impress himself.

“[Darren Moore] told me straight away how he deals with his players, how he likes to use young players and how he likes them to express themselves,” Simões said.

“It’s what I need. It’s how I like to play my football.

“I know he enjoys my way of playing football and it’s good to get that freedom.

“I think Doncaster have always had a bit of interest in me from playing back in the U23s.

“I guess when they were told I was available to go on loan, they were interested in me straight away, with Darren Moore having seen me play.

“When I first got told I could go out on loan, Doncaster was one of the first teams I heard.”
