Rovers have confirmed they will visit Manchester United U23s on September 1, which is set to be the final of their warm-up matches.

Matches against two Championship clubs and two League Two clubs have also been pencilled in. Rovers will play one of the Championship clubs twice, should the plans be rubber-stamped.

All friendly matches will take place behind-closed-doors.

It is understood that Rovers hope to hold their solitary home friendly - part of the potential double header with a Championship side - at the Keepmoat Stadium in order to test protocols that have been put in place due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Chief executive Gavin Baldwin has confirmed the club hope to be in a position to stream the home friendly online for supporters.

Precise details of each friendly, including the identity of the opposition and, in particular, the venue, are unlikely to be made public until close to the match as clubs look to manage their way through Covid-19 restrictions.

There are concerns that supporters will look to gather outside venues, which would potentially compromise social distancing measures.

Rovers played against Manchester United U21s in last season’s Leasing.com Trophy.
