Rovers had held agreements in principle with two Premier League clubs over loan signings but have been awaiting final confirmation on the two players for several weeks.

In the last 24 hours however, we understand they have been given the green light to complete the signings, with both players set to join up with the squad ahead of this weekend’s League One opener against MK Dons.

The Athletic has reported that Rovers have won the race to sign highly rated forward Rayhaan Tulloch from West Bromwich Albion on a season-long loan deal.

Rovers boss Darren Moore is known to hold the 19-year-old in high regard from his own time at the Hawthorns.

But Tulloch looks set to arrive at the Keepmoat later this week - after another 19-year-old loan forward from a top Premier League club.

Moore and the Rovers hierarchy have been waiting nervously for news on this forward for more than a month, with the striker identified as one of the top targets for the summer window.

Moore has put much of his focus over the last couple of months in revamping his attacking options, with Rovers short on numbers in that area of the pitch.

The signing of the two loan forwards will take the Rovers boss a major step closer to completing his initial summer business.
