Kazaiah Sterling is unlikely to return to Doncaster Rovers after the latest blow in his recovery from long term injury.

The Tottenham Hotspur loanee suffered a dead leg in the clash with Rotherham United on September 7, suffering internal bleeding in his thigh with the impact of the injury.

Sterling underwent a scan on the injury last week with Rovers boss Darren Moore revealing there had been no improvement, almost three months on since the original incident.

“Incredibly, and we're waiting for some more inside information from a medical point of view, Kazaiah’s injury really hasn’t improved all that much with the results we had back from the scan,” Moore said.

“He’s not really moved any further forwards. He hasn’t moved backwards but he hasn’t moved forward either.

“We’re trying to get the real medical prognosis on exactly what it is but you can understand with everything that is going on at Spurs, we’re probably one of the last people that are going to get any information out of them at the minute.

“It’s a shame for the boy really because we’ve always hung our hat on him in terms of having him back.

“At the moment, that doesn’t look likely. The main thing for us is for him to get absolutely fit.”

Sterling was signed in mid-August on a season long loan as Moore sought to boost his attacking ranks following the departure of John Marquis.

And Moore admits he would be forced to secure a different loanee in January should Sterling fail to show significant improvement before the end of the year.

“If he’s not able to come back, certainly over the next couple of weeks and be ready for the busy Christmas programme, then yes, we’d have to look at maybe replacing him when the window opens with an additional loan,” he said.
