But Daniel, who charts Rovers’ matches though his football vlog, was left regretting his words when striker Fejiri Okenabihrie scrambled in a 93rd minute equaliser with virtually the last kick of the game to secure Doncaster a 1-1 draw.

Fellow supporters were quick to remind him of his tweet, urging him to get his kit off for the run.

Sean Northey tweeted: “Off you go son......” while the club’s supporter group, the Viking Supporters Co-operative replied: “Get em off lad.”

Andy Cutmore added: “Right need timings for this as I will bring the wife along, she’s been a bit down lately and could do with a good laugh.”

And in a further message he wrote: “So this tweet has gathered a bit of momentum thanks to a last gasp equaliser that I obviously didn’t see coming.

“I’m a man of my word but would like donations to the below link as signs of support. Hopefully I’ll keep my dignity while running.”

Daniel is urging supporters to pledge money to the Eve Merton Dreams Trust, the Doncaster based charity which has linked up with the Rovers in previous years to stage fundraising charity football matches. to boost the organisation’s coffers.
