Doncaster Rovers' EFL Trophy group completed with Premier League U21 side

Doncaster Rovers’ group in the EFL Trophy has been completed by Wolverhampton Wanderers U21s as the final stage of the draw for the competition was finalised.

On Monday, Rovers were placed into Group F of the northern section of the competition alongside League Two sides Bradford City and Oldham Athletic.

That left one place for one of the invited U21s sides representing a club with a Category One academy, with Wolves being pulled out of the hat.

Rovers have a strong relationship with the West Midlands side, who loaned out Niall Ennis and Cameron John last season.

The first group matches of the EFL Trophy – known as the Leasing.com Trophy last season – will take place on either September 8 or 9, prior to the start of the League One campaign.

Sides play each other once in the group stages. Wolves U21s will play all their matches away from home while venues for the other fixtures will be announced in due course.
