He won promotion to the Premier League during his time with the Royals before joining Leeds.

Spells with Ipswich Town, Portsmouth, Southend United and Wigan Athletic followed before he returned to Ireland with Waterford.

The 38-year-old won three international caps with Ireland.

He became Wellens’ assistant at Swindon shortly after his appointment in 2018 and joined him at Salford when he switched last November.
