The EFL board were due to meet on Thursday, with formulating the wording of the potential votes high on their agenda.

The board had accepted views from clubs since last week over their proposals for the remainder of the season should no further football be played.

League One clubs are due to vote on whether to attempt to complete the season on the pitch or curtail it at this point, as League Two clubs have chosen to do.

And all 71 EFL clubs are required to vote on how the campaign will be decided should no further regular season matches be played, including determining places by an unweighted points per game system and holding the play-offs as usual.

As part of an open letter to supporters, Baldwin outlined a time frame for the voting process and says a verdict is due some time during the week commencing June 8, if not earlier.

He wrote: “Following weeks of discussions between all of the clubs in our division and a number of different proposals about how the season could be resolved, Sky Bet League One clubs expect to vote for their preferred option soon after the EFL Board meet today [May 28], and we expect the outcome of that vote to be announced week commencing June 8 at the latest.”
