The Wolverhampton Wanderers loanee – playing at left-back in the absence of Reece James through injury – apologised after the game for the role he played in Rovers’ 2-1 reverse at Priestfield Stadium.

But Moore said the experience will stand the 20-year-old in ‘good stead’ as his career progresses.

"He's been brilliant,” said Moore. “There's never a blame culture here.

“We have a culture where we learn and develop and we move on.

“Cameron's been superb, all the players have rallied around him - the staff have rallied around him.

“For him and his young career so far, he'll learn and develop from that and it will stand him in good stead going forward.

“He's a magnificent player for us and it's water off a duck's back.

“We've shut the door on last week and we move on.”

Writing on Twitter following the defeat against the Gills, John thanked the travelling fans for their support.

He said: “Obviously Saturday wasn’t how I wanted or expected it to go.

“The way the team fought and played with 10 men, it wasn’t the result they deserved so I can only apologise to them.

“I share the same frustrations as you do with the result but also how I played. I expect better from myself also.

“Can only put it behind me and make sure that I can put it right in the games to come.

“Thanks to the fans and the support they showed - you were great. Onto Saturday’s game to put it right.”
