Former Leeds United academy coach Michael Pedley has taken on the role which oversees coaching for youngsters up to the U12 age group.

"I am thrilled to be starting at Doncaster Rovers Academy,” Pedley said. “This is a great community club that has a proven track record of producing accomplished footballers ready for the first team.

Pedley – who is working towards his UEFA A licence – has previously worked at York City and Darlington as an age group coach before spending the last two and a half years in the academy structure at Leeds.

He was also the head coach of an academy in the US for more than four years.

Rovers academy manager Tony Cook said: "We're delighted to have Michael join us at the academy.

“He brings vast experience working with academy players of all ages and will help us continue to cement the pathway from Foundation Phase to first team.

"The Foundation Phase is primarily about learning to love football and I'm sure our young players will fall in love with the game and the club while learning a lot under Michael's guidance.

“We're really pleased to have him on board and we're looking forward to working with him."
