He has suggested that building a successful team takes time and now Darren Moore insists he is in for the long haul to attempt to do just that with Doncaster Rovers.

Moore has spoken previously of his belief that managers need to be given the opportunity to shape a squad if a club is to have sustained success.

And he spoke of his admiration for the work done over several years to make Coventry City - who beat Rovers at the weekend - one of League One’s strongest sides.

Such long term thinking suggests Moore sees a similar project at Rovers.

And he insists his priority for Rovers is the long term.

“Yeah, because I’m committed,” he said.

“When I came to the club I was committed. There has been nothing short sighted with me.

“I’ve been committed to coming here and manage a team that I believe over time I can try to bring success here.

“With it, you’ve got to see a continuation, a planning and building process.”

Moore feels he has made significant strides at the club since his arrival as boss last July.

He has overseen a restructuring of the footballing arm of the club, including new appointments and fresh focus in developing players at U23 level.

Moore says the next step is to make sure the club bring in the right players to ensure the changes are successful.

“We feel we have a structure here at the football club now and that is the first phase,” he said.

“The second phase now is to fill in that structure with the right personnel and getting that continuity with that.

“With any club, and I’m not just saying that, any successful club it has taken time.

“It’s not going to be any different here.

“Success doesn’t come with a click of the fingers and it happens. It takes succession planning and building.

“It takes a continued approach to keep improving and that won’t stop here.

“Our continuation and building will remain and it must do.”
