Darren Moore taking satisfaction from a job well done by Doncaster Rovers

He may be a manager who prides himself on sending his side out with attacking intent but you cannot take the defender out of Darren Moore.

The Doncaster Rovers boss admits he has taken tremendous satisfaction from his side's recent defensive record - which has seen them keep five clean sheets from their last seven matches.

Friday night's goalless draw at Sunderland saw Rovers deliver an excellent defensive performance.

And Moore praised the concentration levels of his side at the Stadium of Light.

"It can be a hostile place and to keep the crowd relatively quiet through the game, it shows the work that was done to a man," he said.

"We did that well but we had to do that well.

"I thought the concentration levels were very good and, when I think about it, all of the players were really switched on.

"It was the right performance and a step in the right direction."

Though he and his players appear to have found the formula for defensive solidity in League One, Moore insists the work on that aspect of the game will not slow.

"You always want to get clean sheets because it gives you a chance and something to work from," he said.

"The boys have just got to stay consistent and working hard for each other.

"They seem to be in the right place at the right time, working together in their units.

"While ever we want to be hard to beat, there are both aspects of the game on and off the ball that we work on and we'll continue to do that.

"Even though we've had five clean sheets in seven games, we won't stop, we'll keep working and keep emphasising those points.

"And we'll keep working on the ball at the same time too."
