Moore has reiterated that players will be required to move on before any signings are made this month.

But he says clubs are nervous about allowing players to leave during this demanding campaign - including Rovers.

“The situation of where the club is at doesn’t allow us to be extravagant in any shape or form,” Moore told the Free Press.

“We have to try to move one out to get somebody in. That is the way I have been.

“That is why I have been so intent on keeping the squad fit and keeping rotating them round and not flogging people. With the fixtures coming up, we have to look at that.

“We are looking to try to do what we can in the transfer window.

“What we can do, we’ll wait and see.

“Everyone is in the same boat that we’re in. People want to hold onto players, people don’t want to let them go in sheer fear of the games that are coming up.

“They need bodies - but we need bodies as well.

“It’s trying to work in the best way possible for the club to try to improve the squad if we can, to try to get more bodies in if we can.

“It’s testing things out there. We’ll keep our finger on the pulse and see what is what.”

Moore’s immediate priority during the January window is to secure a goalkeeper - preferably an extension to Joe Lumley’s loan deal until the end of the season - and learn if Rayhaan Tulloch will be resuming his loan imminently.

Should Tulloch be ruled out for longer, it is likely his loan will be cancelled and Rovers will look for alternative options in attack in the loan market.

He said: “Before we start looking anywhere else we have to start looking at the Joe Lumley situation, the Rayhaan Tulloch situation.

“That is what I’m focusing on first because those are the ones that we need to look at.”
