Darren Moore explains frustration during Doncaster Rovers’ win over Swindon Town

Darren Moore explained some of the frustration he showed during Doncaster Rovers’ win over Swindon Town was down to a determination to see his side control the game.

Moore cut an animated figure in the technical area, particularly during an open first half at the Keepmoat.

And he revealed he was looking for Rovers to prevent Swindon from settling into their defensive shape, just as his side had done against Gillngham at the weekend.

“Because the onus was on us to go and win the game, there was a time when they got back into their shape and it seemed that the game was slow,” Moore said.

“I didn’t want us to fall into that slow trap.

“Part of my frustration was wanting us to move the ball really quickly and staying on it.

“That’s where we needed to not get drawn into that. We’ve got to stick to our game plan.

“Part of it was moving it quicker. I just felt at times the game went a little bit flat and I didn’t want that because the onus was on to win it.”

Moore was pleased with the tenacity of his side as they overcome a scrappy opening to the game to take the win.

"All round, the team was dogged and we've come away with the three points,” he said.

"It was a scrappy game at times, two teams trying to get the ball down and play. Two teams sometimes needlessly giving the ball away.

"At times both teams displayed some good passages of play but fortunately we took the chances when they came.”
